Indian-origin doctor faces charges
TORONTO: An Indian-origin doctor in Canada has been accused of sexually assaulting several of his patients over seven years.
The 48-year-old Palaniswami Easwara Murthi, based in northern Alberta, was allegedly involved in sexual assaults on patients - three women and one man - between 2001 and 2007, Royal Canadian Mounted Police were quoted as saying by the Canadian media.
Police said they have laid charges, including five counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault, and sexual interference and exploitation, after two clinics of the doctor in Grande Prairie were searched on Thursday.
He is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie provincial court on Monday. — PTI
