London: Zimbabwe Cricket chief Ozias Bvute has lashed out against the English push for ZCU’s ouster from the ICC despite the fact that no other international sports body has so far severed ties with the troubled African nation. “We (Zimbabwe) are a full member of FIFA and are currently participating in a World Cup qualifying campaign, we have a swimming programme which has produced Kirsty Coventry, a recent winner in the World championships,” Bvute told BBC Radio. “So it would be strange that the only sport to take action on so-called current worries is cricket when all the other world sporting bodies have not taken that stance.”
Zimbabwe’s future would be discussed at the ICC executive meeting on July 2 and it would need seven out of 10 votes to expel the country. — PTI
