Rajaram pulls off surprise win

Coimbatore: Veteran racer and home crowd favourite C. Rajaram of Prime Racing pull off a surprise win in the opening race of the Formula Rolon Chevrolet category in the second round of the JK Tyre National racing championship at the Kari Motor Speedway in Chettipalayam on Sunday.

Rajaram made a clean start off the grid and managed to squeak past two drivers by the first corner and another by the second to take the lead. He also staved off a threat from pole starter Sarosh Hataria midway through.

Tough competition

Rayomand Banajee of Meco Racing shone in the second race. But, unlike Rajaram, Banajee faced a tough competition right through from Saahil Shelar of Team Speed NK Racing.

Eighteen-year-old Saran Vikram raced to a double in the Formula LGB Swift class. He led from lights to flag in the opening race.

It was not easy though for the youngster in the second race.

Karthik Shankar of Team Rams Racing kept breathing down his neck only to lose it towards the end.
