Gowtham wins title

HYDERABAD: Gowtham Krishna won the boys’ Group I title, defeating Arsh Agarwal 4-2, in the final of the Anandnagar Welfare Association Sports Academy’s inter-School table tennis tournament here on Sunday.

The results (all finals): Boys: Group I: Gowtham Krishna bt Arsh Agarwal 4-2. Group II: V.V.S. Kaushik bt Auresh Rath 4-0.

Girls: Group I: Asna bt Naina 3-1. Group II: Farisa bt M. Harshitha 3-1.

Team championship: Boys: Chirec Public School bt Dayanand High School 3-1.

Girls: Little Flower High School bt Don Bosco High School 3-0.

APFA ad-hoc panel soon

The All-India Football Federation, in a statement through its representative here, clarified that no one in the existing set-up of the Andhra Pradesh Football Association (APFA) can run the sport other than the ad-hoc panel to be appointed soon.

This statement comes in the wake of a release in the name of Anis-ul-Mulq, claiming himself to be the secretary, about the commencement of Rahim League championship for ‘A’ division teams in the first week of July.

Effectively, there is no competent authority to conduct any leagues in Hyderabad, the statement said.

Corporate tennis

Sportz Mantra will conduct the third TCS Corporate tennis challenger tournament from July 14 to 19 at the TCS Campus (Cyberabad).

The event, to be conducted on a knock-out basis, features singles, doubles and mixed doubles for men and women besides the team championships. For details, contact Kannan, ph: 9885852260.
