Death sentence upheld
Nagpur: The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court upheld the death sentence awarded to a middle-aged man by a lower court for raping and then killing a minor in neighbouring Amravati district. Justices A.P. Lawande and Arun Choudhary found one Shankar Kisanrao Khade (55) guilty on counts of rape and murder of a minor girl.
She was kidnapped, raped and then killed on July 23, 2006 by Khade at Daryapur in Amravati district. .
First Ad-hoc Additional Sessions Judge of Achalpur, A. Vaidya, had convicted Khade on November 3, 2007 which was challenged by the accused in the High Court. The High Court bench dismissed his petition and upheld the order given by the lower court. — PTI
