Rs.1.15 crore distributed to heirs of Tamil scholars

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Saturday handed over Rs.1.15 crore to heirs of 21 Tamil scholars and writers, whose works have been nationalised.

The heirs of poet Periyasami Thooran and Prof. Vellaivaranar received Rs.10 lakh each. Mr. Karunanidhi gave Rs.5 lakh each to the heirs of R. Raghava Iyengar, Udumalai Narayanakavi, K.M. Annal Thango, Avvai T.K. Shanmugam, La.Sa. Ramamirtham, Vallikannan, Na. Vaanamaamalai, Poet Puthuvai Sivam, A. Raghavan, Tho.Mu.Si. Raghunathan, Sakthidasan Subramanian, Na. Sanjeevi, Mullai Muthiah, S.D. Sundaram, Poet Meera, Mohamed Nainar Maraikayar, Su. Samuthiram, Kovai Ilancheran and Na. Subbu Reddiyar.

Heirs of six other scholars, Ayothidasa Pandithar, Abraham Pandithar, Sadavadani Seiku Thampi Pavalar, R.P. Sethu Pillai, Vindhan and A. Karmega Konar, will receive the money after they submit documents justifying their claim.
