HELPING THE NEEDY: E.V.K.S. Elangovan, Union Minister, distributing school uniforms to children at a function on Saturday. CHENNAI: Union Minister for State for Textiles E.V.K.S. Elangovan on Saturday said the high rate of inflation was only a temporary phenomenon in a growing economy. He was speaking at a function organised by the Rajasthan Cosmo Club Foundation and the RCC Platinum Trust to distribute 8,100 sets of school uniforms to deserving children. Education, Mr. Elangovan said, would help India become an economic super power. He urged parents to provide quality education to their children so that they could contribute towards nation building. He appreciated the club for its work in collecting old clothes, processing them and distributing them to the needy. Rajasthan Cosmo Club president Sushil Sethiya said the cloth bank, started in 1993, had processed and distributed over one million sets of clothes till date. RCCP Trust managing trustee Pranav Jain said the foundation distributed around 20,000 sets of clothes during Tamil New Year day. This was the 11th year that it was distributing new school uniforms under the auspices of Badal Chand Sugan Kanwar Chordia NSU Scheme to students across the State.
