CHENNAI: A girl who was stabbed allegedly by her friend at Pattabiram on Wednesday, succumbed to injuries at Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital here on Saturday. According to the police, S. Vijay (21) was working in a hardware shop at Pattabiram. He befriended B. Dhanalakshmi (21) who was working as a salesgirl there. Dhanalakshmi’s mother B. Chandra opposed the relationship and stopped her from going to work. Vijay went to see the girl at her house on Wednesday. In the scuffle that followed, he stabbed the girl and her mother.

The police, who arrested Vijay, said he was already convicted by a juvenile court in 2004. He had abducted K. Gokulraj (7) of Pattabiram and demanded Rs. 10 lakh as ransom .
