Woman held for preparing fake driving licences
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI: A woman was arrested on Friday on charges of preparing fake driving licences. According to police, the accused, Vennila (35), charged Rs.150 to Rs.200 for each fake licence, which she made at her photocopy shop on Madhavaram High Road.
She had the logos of all the Regional Transport Offices, a police official said. She used a scanner, a printer and a laminator to make the licences.
The arrest followed information that the woman was making fake identity cards of a national oil marketing company.
The police also came to know that a photocopy shop in Moolakadai area in Perambur was misusing licences.
Following a tip off, the police sent a decoy to shops in the area.
The accused had been questioned in a rubber stamp scam case earlier, police said.
