Anand Katti shines

BANGALORE: Former Ranji player Anand Katti returned match figures of eight for 71 besides contributing a useful 35 in Malleswaram Gymkhana’s nine-wicket win over Bangalore Cricketers in the Sir Mirza Ismail Shield cricket tournament for Group I-division one league here on Friday.

Bangalore Cricketers 219 in 68.5 overs (G. Pradeep 122, Anand Katti four for 36] and 166 in 51.3 overs (S. Pradeep 55, Anand Katti four for 35) lost to Malleswaram Gymkhana 333 for nine decl. in 66 overs (V. Cheluvaraj 127) and 54 for one in 7.4 overs.

Jawahar Sports Club (1) 275 in 81.3 overs (B.V. Shashank 72, Shishir Bhavani 76 n.o.) and 115 for two in 43 overs drew with Herons 197 in 51.4 overs (Tejas Trishul 44, S. Vinodh 84).

Wadiyar 392 in 94.4 overs (J. Arun Kumar 62, Ravi Kumar 47, Fazal Khaleel 221 n.o., B. Naveen four for 53] drew with Friends Union (1) 146 for four in 44.3 overs (Shyam Ponnappa 43, B.M. Uttappa 56).

Rohit hits century

An unbeaten century by Rohit Desai helped Belgaum district defeat Gadag by eight wickets in the KSCA Dharwad Zone under-22 inter-district tournament at Hubli on Friday.

Gadag 218 in 44.3 overs (Mallikarjun 53, Nasir Shirahatti 48, Wasim Hudli five for 39) lost to Belgaum 222 for two in 29.3 overs (Rohit Desai 113 not out, Zeeshan Sayed 44 not out).

Karwar 212 in 37.5 overs (Hussein 47, Nasrulla 44) drew with Belgaum 133 for three in 26.3 overs (Pritam Patil 44).
