Semifinalists spotted

THANJAVUR: Madurai, Tirunelveli, Tiruvananthapuram and Kottayam entered the semifinals of the LIC South zone inter-division volleyball tournament here on Thursday.

League results: Tirunelveli bt Salem 25-10, 25-9; Vellore bt Thanjavur 25-16, 25-15; Tiruvananthapuram bt Chennai 25-15, 25-14; Kottayam bt Ernakulam 19-25, 25-13, 25-16; Madurai bt Kozhikode 25-14, 25-20; Thanjavur bt Salem 25-10, 25-19; Kottayam bt Chennai 25-13, 25-13; Vellore bt Kozhikode 25-15, 25-22; Tirunelveli bt Madurai 25-9, 25-15; Tiruvananthapuram bt Coimbatore 25-11, 25-13; Madurai bt Thanjavur 25-3, 25-14.

At Tirunelveli, the Tirunelveli District Cricket Association will conduct trials for the selection of the Tirunelveli district under-16 and 14 teams at Sankarnagar at 2.30 p.m. on July 2.

Those born on or after September 1, 1992 (u-16) and on or after September 1, 1994 (u-14) are eligible.
