VISAKHAPATNAM: Some 60 roller-skaters from nine States displayed their talent to the passers-by on the road opposite Visakha Goverment Women’s College and to the visitors to VUDA Park. People on Visakha Women’s College road and visitors to VUDA Park watched in awe as the cream of roller-skaters whizzed past in perfect rhythm and with great skill. The young and talented roller-skaters were participating in the trials being hosted by the Visakhapatnam District Roller Skating Association, to get into the coaching camp of the Roller Skating Federation of India (RSFI). The selected roller skaters would participate in the Asian speed championship to be held in Shanghai (China) from October 12 to 22 and the World speed championship to be held in Spain from September 4 to 8, said secretary of district association M. Syam Babu on Wednesday. The trials were being held in senior boys and girls and junior boys and girls categories. Technical officials of the RSFI Raghupathi Raju and Bhagirath K. Dadhich are conducting the trials and the district association coaches M. Krishna Rao, S.V. Raja and K. Gangadhar are assisting them. The rink events were being held at the NTR banked track in the VUDA park and the road events on the road opposite the Visakha Women’s College.
