BANGALORE: Host STC (Bangalore) snatched its second straight win in the South Zone SAI inter-hostel football tournament for boys at the football stadium here. The home team edged past STC (Calicut) by a solitary goal. Madhukaran got the all important goal in the 23rd minute, his long ranger dipping into the goal off the crossbar. On the opening day of the tournament on Monday, Bangalore had blanked Kurnool 4-0 with goals from Amarnath (2), Donbosco and Thamodaran.

In Tuesday’s earlier match, Kollam having lost to Calicut 0-2 on Monday put the reverse behind it to down Chennai 2-0 thanks to an Al Sabeer brace. Sabeer struck in the 22nd and 32nd minutes. Calicut had defeated Kollam through goals from P. Naseem and Shibinlal.
