Good response to Olympic Run

HYDERABAD: The Olympic Run, sponsored by Lanco Institute of General Humanitarian Trust and organised by Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association, evoked a good response with about 10,000 athletes participating in the event which started from eight different points in the twin cities and 10 districts on Monday.

The star attraction was Olympian and heptathlete J.J. Shobha, who only last week booked a slot for the Beijing Olympics, as she cheered the budding youngsters in the Run and urged them to be sincere both in studies and sports. The other internationals who took part were hockey player N. Mukesh Kumar and shooter Amit Sanghi.

Big win for Google

Google recorded a thumping 10-0 win over Polycom in the second Pan India inter-corporate football festival organised by Sportzvillage at RRC Grounds here.

Pranjala moves up

Y. Pranjala defeated R. Niharika 8-3 in the girls’ under-12 quarterfinal of the Meridian Tennis Academy AP State Open junior tennis tournament in Madhapur here.

Easy win for TCS

Tata Consultancy Services recorded a seven-wicket win over HSBC in the third SBH Corporate Cup cricket tournament here.

The scores:

HSBC 102 for seven lost to TCS 104 for three.

UBS 116 lost to Bar Council 122 for four.

The Hindu 188 for two (Sridhar 65, Dixit 44) bt Hyd House 107 (Srikant four for 10).

ICICI Bank 114 for four lost to Standard Chatttered Bank 116 for eight.
