Woman found murdered in lodge

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A woman in her early 40s, who checked into a lodge near Yousfain ‘dargah’ in Nampally along with a couple and a child two days ago, was found murdered in the room on Monday.

Investigators suspect the couple. that accompanied the woman and left the lodge along with the child on Saturday, to have killed the woman. A middle-aged man claiming himself as Hemant Jain from Ajmer (Rajasthan) checked into the lodge on Friday morning. He told the receptionist that one of the two women was his wife while the other was his relative.

Later, the couple went out only to return by night . Early next morning around 5 a.m., Jain came to the receptionist and wanted to know when the near-by ‘dargah’ would open and left the place. Few minutes later, his wife carrying the two-year-old girl also walked out.

“As the room was locked from outside, the lodge workers thought the second woman too has gone out but smelt a rat as they didn’t return till Monday morning, the Habeebnagar Inspector A. Srinivasa Rao said.

They opened the room lock with the duplicate key and found the woman lying dead on the cot with a ‘chunni’ tied around her neck.

Except a suitcase containing some clothes, nothing was found in the room. Police believe it was a planned murder and the couple left the lodge after strangling the woman to death.
