Koti-Rajendranagar route hit by lack of time table, stage boards Unhygienic conditions at Puranapul bus shelter which has turned into a virtual public toilet
Commuter-friendly drive: RTC officials interacting with passengers as part of the route rationalisation programme on Monday. HYDERABAD: Beginning from lack of stage boards to poor maintenance of bus shelters; it was complaints galore during the route rationalisation programme conducted by APSRTC Hyderabad region on route no. 94 R from Koti to Rajendranagar. There is not even a single stage board or time table board at Pushpajanli complex in Koti from where buses on route no. 94 R commence their operations. It is tough for passengers to know about the frequency of buses and the stages at which they would halt while plying on this route, said L. Chandra Mouli, a regular commuter on the stretch. As part of the rationalisation programme, RTC officials on Monday observed frequency of buses on the route, stopped buses at the stages and gathered suggestions from commuters all along the route. Bus frequencyThough the bus frequency is good during day time, there are not many buses in the evening, particularly from Rajendranagar side, complained Satyavathi, a commuter at Afzalgunj. In reply to her complaint, Hyderabad region Assistant Manager C. Satyanarayana informed that 10 buses in 160 single trips were being operated on the route and the reason for irregular arrival of buses in the evenings was due to traffic jams at Bahadurpura crossroads and Goshamahal. However, he assured that frequency of evening buses would be improved for the convenience of commuters. While commuters at Koti, Afzalgunj and Madina circle complained of irregular frequency of buses, those in Puranapul complained of unhygienic conditions at Swamy Vivekanada Nagar bus shelter. People relieve themselves openly near this bus shelter and in the process have transformed it into a public toilet. Several representations were made to the RTC officials but there was no response, said Gulam Mohiuddin, a commuter. RTC officials informed that bus shelters in twin cities were being maintained by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and the matter would be taken up with municipal authorities at the earliest.
