It involves the use of two aircraft and two radars. A study of “cloud physics” to be undertaken. HYDERABAD: Plans have been drawn up to commence cloud-seeding operations this year from any day between July 10 and 15 to precipitate rain-bearing clouds for artificial rains. Like last year, the operations this year too will be undertaken at a cost of Rs. 25 crore, covering South-West and North-East monsoons lasting up to December-end. Sources in the Rain-Shadow Area Department said here on Monday that the exercise would involve the use of two aircraft and two radars. Bids received in response to the tenders would be finalised in a week. Once the agency was finalised, the government was expected to issue the necessary sanctions. An official said that after these formalities were fulfilled, clearance for the same would be obtained from the Union government’s Civil Aviation Ministry. He said that a study of “cloud physics” would be made. Various parameters of the clouds would be recorded by relevant instruments before and after they were seeded.
