Blood donors information system inaugurated

Staff Reporter

COIMBATORE: Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation launched a blood donors information system, ‘Liquid Love,’ here on Sunday.

The aim of the organisation is to generate a database of blood donors and create awareness about blood donation, S. Sivasubramaniam, District President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, said. It would accept requests from hospitals and contact the database for the required blood type. The organisation has also appealed to the public to register their names in the database. Around 1,500 people had already registered with the movement.

The organisation was also roping in voluntary and non-Governmental organisations to mobilise people who were willing to donate blood, Mr. Sivasubramaniam said. By November this year, it hoped to register at least 10,000 donors. It would also launch mass awareness campaigns in schools, colleges, and corporate companies in addition to a door-to-door campaign.

Those who wish to donate blood can contact: 97892-67237.
