Steel firm employee loses Rs. 11.2 lakh

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: An employee of a steel company lost Rs. 11.2 lakh near Allalsandra Gate on Saturday after two motorcycle-borne thieves stole the money while he had gone to collect a cheque from a customer.

On Friday, a businessman had lost Rs. 16 lakh in R.T. Nagar.

The police said Srinivas, an employee of Indus Steel, had gone inside Vatsa Steels, near Allalsandra Gate, to collect a cheque when two persons opened the side-box that had been fitted to the bike, and stole the amount.

The police said Srinivas had collected the money from steel shops at Ramamurthy Nagar, Whitefield and Banaswadi, and that the culprits might have followed him from Banaswadi.

Cash stolen

A cash bag containing Rs. 65,000 was reported stolen from a car in ITI Layout in K.R. Puram police limits on Saturday.

The police said that building contractor Somashekar Reddy, a resident of Rammurthynagar had withdrawn the sum from SyndicateBank’s Marathahalli branch and came to his friend’s house in ITI Layout.

He left the cash bag in the car and went inside around 12.30 p.m.

Thieves broke the window pane of the car and took away the cash bag. The K.R. Puram police have registered a case.
