KDOA to felicitate sportspersons

Vijayawada: Krishna District Olympic Association (KDOA) is organising the Olympic run on Saturday on the thoroughfares of the city, in which thousands of youngsters are expected to take part. The association is also felicitating players and coaches from the district, in recognition of their achievements and services.

Grand Master Koneru Humpy, Dronacharya Koneru Ashok (chess), Rama Rao (archery), G. Pradeep (volleyball), Naga Prasanna (netball), Durga Bhavani (cricket), Tulasi Chaitanya (swimming), R. Chandana Sai (Gymnastics), B. Uday Kumar (table tennis) and Tirumalai Kumar (athletics), along with physical education teachers D. Dayakar of ZP High School, Pedamuttevi and M.V. Satya Prasad of SKPVH School, will be honoured for their contribution to sports and games. However, international shuttler Chetan Anand will not attending the function as he is away playing a tournament in Indonesia.

Krishna District Archery Association and Krishna District Kabaddi Association will be honoured for producing many national and international players.

Volleyball tournament

SCR Vijayawada Division Sports Association is organising a five-day inter-departmental volleyball tournament from June 26 to 30 at the Railway Institute courts, according to Welfare Inspector (sports) M. Arjun Rao. — Sports Reporter
