Saurabh takes honours

Coimbatore: Delhi’s Saurabh Bahuguna walked the course with butterflies in his tummy. But he shook them off midway through to clinch his maiden title in the LG Coimbatore Open amateur golf championship at the Coimbatore Golf Club here on Friday.

Saurabh had a tough customer in Vikram Rana to handle until the 14th hole. Just when it looked anybody’s game, Vikram erred and offered the title in a platter to Saurabh.

The title winner made a birdie on the par-3 fourth, while Vikram faltered on the very first hole.

However, he shifted gears and saved shots on the fifth, sixth and ninth. While the going looked smooth for Vikram, Saurabh was seen struggling. He made a bogey on the fifth and a double bogey on the par-3 seventh.
