Indian sailors do well

Chennai: The Indian sailors performed well on the second day of the Bareh International Regatta championship conducted by Bahrain Maritime Sports Association, with Hussain Bhavnagarvala holding on to his top position.

In the fourth race, despite finishing fourth, he was disqualified after having been on the course side (OCS) before the start of the race. He overcame a bad start in the fifth race before finishing eighth, and finished first in the sixth race. He was tied at 14 points with Faisal Aziz of Bahrain, but was on top after three first-place finishes in six races so far.

The fourth race had Indians in the fifth, seventh, ninth, 10th, 11th and 19th positions, after which Varun Thakkar and Hussain finished fourth and eighth respectively in the fifth race. Four sailors finished in the top 10 (first, third, eighth and ninth) in the sixth race, on a day when the winds were light and the visibility poor.

Overall, the Indians occupied the first, third, eighth, ninth, 12th, 16th and 19th positions, with one discard. — Sports Reporter
