MANGALORE: The Nautical Institute, U.K., has conferred a fellowship on the former president of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry John Prasad Menezes. A press release here on Thursday said that the institute was a recognised professional body for qualified mariners and others with interests in nautical science. The institute conferred the fellowship on 19 of its members spread across 54 countries, this year. Mr. Menezes received the fellowship from the president of the institute, R.A. Coates, at Antwerp, Belgium, on June 12. The institute, which has a membership of 6,115 people, confers the fellowship on members who have made significant contribution to the profession, nautical science and the objectives of the institute. Mr. Menezes was elected member in 1986.
