Senthilkumar’s effort in vain

CHENNAI: M. Senthilkumar’s eight for 37 went in vain as Flakt India overcame Southern Railway Institute (Tambaram) by 43 runs in a First Division match of the Kancheepuram DCA cricket league held here recently.

The scores: First Division: Krishnaraj 157 for eight in 20 overs (V. Adithya 40, U. Sandeep five for 35) bt Kattankulathur 91 in 22.5 overs (V. Aditya four for 32); Flakt India 132 in 30 overs (M. Senthilkumar eight for 37) bt S. Rly. Instt. (Tbm) 89 in 21.3 overs (D. Srinivasan four for 15).

Second Division: Syndicate Bank 116 for seven in 20 overs (Srinivasan 51, Prasanna Narayanan four for 30) lost to Asian SC 117 for two in 13.4 overs (Moshin Basha 51); Kasturi Estates 121 for four in 20 overs lost to Blue Bird 124 for five in 14.5 overs (M.K. Senthilkumar 42); Fine Star 143 for eight in 20 overs (Ravindra Babu 40, Srinivasan four for 43) lost to Jai 144 for three in 19 overs (R. Chandrasekar 55); Chromepet 159 for four in 20 overs (Venkatesh 62) bt Engine Valves 132 for nine in 20 overs (Venkatesh four for 29).

Semifinals on June 22

The 21st edition of the SICGIL Trophy, the knock-out cricket tournament exclusively for teams in the lower divisions of the TNCA league, has entered the decisive phase.

The semifinals will be played on June 22, followed by the final a week later. All three matches — 30-overs-a-side contests — will be held at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

The prize money has been doubled this year, with individual prizes for the winner, the runner-up, and the semifinalists. 20th Century has kept its chances of defending the title alive by reaching the final four.

Ball badminton tournament

Pattabiram Ball Badminton Club will conduct a State-level men fives (two seniors) tournament at Panchayath Union Middle School, Nimalacherry, Pattabiram, on June 21 and 22.

Chess tournament

The Sri Srinivasa Sports Academy will conduct a State-level open chess tournament in various age categories on July 26 and 27 at Sri Jadavbai Nathmal Singhvee Jain Vidhyalaya MHSS. For details, call 9789055933 or 9940144452.

CSCA League Trophy
