NEW DELHI: Sriram Jha retained the men’s title with a perfect score, while Neetu Ahluwalia toppled defending champion Mitali Thadani by spin of coin for the women’s crown after the two had tied with 5.5 points and a similar progressive score in the LIC North Zone chess championship that concluded here on Thursday. The results (sixth and final round): Men: D.N. Jangid (4) lost to Sriram Jha (6); Suraj Prakash (4) drew with A.K. Walia (4); R.S. Khalsa (4) bt Mahesh Chander Monga (3); Vikas Gupta (3) lost to Rajesh Duggal (4); Sanjeev Kumar (3.5) bt Sunil Bansal (2.5). Women: Mitali Thadani (5.5) bt Neerja Jain (3); Bhanumati (3) lost to Neetu Ahluwalia (5.5); Saroj Purohit (2.5) lost to Mamta Mukhi (4); Seema Kanwar (4) bt Nisha Gupta (1); Jyoti Mehra (3) bt Rekha Khullar (2.5). Final standings: Men: 1. Sriram Jha (6), 2. Suraj Prakash (4), 3. R.S. Khalsa (4), 4. D.N. Jangid (4), 5. A.K. Walia (4). Women: 1. Neetu Ahluwalia (5.5), 2. Mitali Thadani (5.5), 3.
