Solar Semiconductor to expand capacity

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Solar Semiconductor will be expanding by increasing the production capacity of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules from the current 60 MW to 220 MW by the end of this year. The company plans to enhance it to one giga watt (GW) over the next five years, investing $1.1 billion.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Executive Vice-President of the company, Nava Akkineni, said the company had an order book of $1.5 billion to be delivered in the next two to three years. It was partnering several companies for importing material and supplying to solar power farms abroad.

The company secured ISO:9001 certification from TUV Rheinland, Germany. Eric Ruhle, Managing Director, TUV Rheinland, said Solar Semiconductor was found to be following much higher standards than the prescribed ones by the certifying agency. The ISO certificate issued by TUV Rheinland was acceptable in most parts of the world, while some other specifications would be subjected to verification in some countries.
