Core issues: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu speaks to media persons at Devupalli in Vizianagaram district on Wednesday. Party leader T. Devender Goud is with him. - DEVUPALLI (Vizianagaram dist.): The Telugu Desam Party would wait for some more time to make public its final decision on the demand for a separate State of Telangana. This was what TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu said after the five-member core committee of the party discussed the issue for more than three hours under his chairmanship here on Wednesday. The committee would meet again “twice or thrice” before coming to a decision. “We have said during byelections that we were not against Telangana. It is a delicate issue and a decision can’t be taken immediately. A state-wide discussion is needed. The core committee is the highest body and is discussing the issue,” Mr. Naidu said at a press conference after the meeting concluded. Committee members T. Devender Goud, K. Yerran Naidu, Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and K.E. Krishna Murthy were also present at the press conference. The core committee discussed many issues and deliberated on the prevailing situation, he said, but felt it was not proper to reveal them. Clarity was also needed before deciding on some issues before the forthcoming elections. The party was continuously getting feedback and the meeting had also discussed issues like how the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti had deceived the people on the issue. Mr. Naidu blamed the Congress for supporting Telangana during the elections to have an alliance with the TRS and talking in a different manner after coming to power. The party would meet its cadre and leaders and also public on the issue. Mr. Naidu was not willing to give any elaborate answer to questions on the points discussed during the meeting. ‘Not proper’At the outset, he said it was not proper on the part of some television news channels to run scrolling on the meeting, like Mr. Goud stressing on the point that the party should declare its support for a separate Telangana. None of the core committee members spoke at the press conference. The meeting commenced at 11.10 a.m. when the five members reached the ZPP High School premises where Mr. Naidu was waiting for them in his air-conditioned bus converted into a ratham for ‘Meekosam Yatra’.
