Woman dies in road accident

BANGALORE: A 28-year-old engineer returning from shopping on her scooter died after she was run over by an oil tanker on Kasturba Road on Tuesday. The incident occurred a few metres away from the Cubbon Park police station.
According to the police, the victim, Sarita Gopinathan was returning to her office on Lavelle Road from Siddalingaiah Circle after purchasing saris when the oil tanker hit her vehicle.
She lost control over her scooter and came under the wheels of the oil tanker. She died on the spot. The driver of the oil tanker fled from the spot, the police said.
The police shifted the body to Victoria Hospital for autopsy.
The police said the victim was a resident of Mathikere and was a mother of a five-year-old boy.
The Cubbon Park traffic police later arrested Raju, driver of the oil tanker.
