JD(U) calls for thorough inquiry

BANGALORE: The Janata Dal (United) has urged the Government to investigate cases filed during the elections by the Election Commission.

Party leader V. Venkatesh, former MP, said the Election Commission had filed over 2,500 cases against individuals for abetting corrupt practices during the course of electioneering in the State.

Dr. Venkatesh said Election Commission officials and the police confiscated cash and material worth Rs. 90 crore, and those responsible should be brought to book. — Special Correspondent
