HYDERABAD: Andhra defeated Kerala 1-0 in the South India senior women’s hockey championship at the Dharmavaram Government Junior College (Anantapur) on Monday. The match-winner came through left-in Rajini in the 23rd minute off a pass from Mamatha Sr. In another match, Karnataka got the better of Tamil Nadu 2-1 with Kulsumbi striking in the 15th minute and Shruthi scoring through a field goal in the 30th minute. For the loser, Rasna reduced the margin through a solo effort in the 69th minute. Karnataka has six points, Andhra four, Tamil Nadu one and Kerala zero after two rounds. Karnataka will take on Andhra in a virtual final on Tuesday as even a draw will see it dethrone the defending champion Andhra, while Tamil Nadu takes on Kerala for the third place.
