Triple crown for Manika

NEW DELHI: Manika Batra won a triple crown by capturing the youth girls, girls and sub-junior girls’ titles in the TT Cup Summer Open table tennis tournament at the St. Columba’s School Hall, Gole Dak Khana, here on Monday.

Manika put herself in line for a fourth title by reaching the final of the women’s event in which she will meet Aashita Jain.

The results:

Men (semifinals): Yakshap Jindal bt Pranshu Gupta 11-8, 11-2, 11-5, 11-8; Sameer Sahni bt Deepak Malik 11-2, 11-6, 7-11, 11-4, 13-11.

Women (semifinals): Manika Batra bt Tina Khurana 9-11, 11-5, 11-3, 11-6, 11-8; Aashita Jain bt Nikita Rautela 11-7, 12-10, 11-8, 11-7.

Youth boys (final): Yakshap Jindal bt Pranshu 11-9, 11-9, 6-11, 10-12, 11-8, 10-12, 11-9.

Youth girls (final): Manika Batra bt Nikita Rautela 11-6, 11-6, 6-11, 11-9, 11-7.

Boys (final): Pranshu Gupta bt Sarthak Gandhi 11-8, 11-9, 11-13, 5-11, 11-8, 11-8; Semifinals: Pranshu Gupta bt Rajat Kumar 11-8, 13-11, 7-11, 8-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-4; Sarthak Gandhi bt Ajai Wadhwa 11-7, 12-10, 11-9, 5-11, 11-5.

Girls (final): Manika Batra bt Vidhushi Vats 13-11, 11-9, 3-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-9; Semifinals: Manika Batra bt Tina Khurana 14-12, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7; Vidhushi Vats bt Aashita Jain 10-12, 9-11, 11-5, 8-11, 11-3, 11-6, 11-5.
