Gymkhana is champion

HYDERABAD: Gymkhana recorded a 4-3 win over Trimulgherry Village ‘A’, via the tie-breaker, in the final of the Sachdev Sports Cup inter-summer coaching centres football tournament, at Trimulgherry here on Sunday.

The teams were locked goalless at the end of full time.

In the tie-breaker, Anirudh, Alphonse, Alloysius Jesuraj and Prashanth were successful for the winner, while Sherwin, Rahul and Sashank were on target for the loser.

P. Gowrishankar, ex-Vice-President of Cantonment Board and P. Rajendran, President, RR District Football Association, gave away the prizes.

Nidhi takes honours

Surapaneni Nidhi defeated P. Jahnavi Reddy 9-7 in the girls’ under-10 category final of the fourth Twin Cities mini junior tennis tournament, organised by Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, here.

Boys: U-12: Shaikh Osama bt Ponnala Siddarth 9-7; U-10: Ponnala Siddarth bt Aproop Reddy 9-5.

Girls: U-12: P. Rashmitha Reddy bt M. Shivani 5-1 (conceded).

Sashidhar wins title

Sashidhar Karthik Babu with 5.5 points emerged winner in the open category of the Brilliant Trophy State open chess tournament here.

The results (final round): Open: M.V. Kumar (4.5) drew with Sashidhar Karthik Babu (5.5); P. Praveen Prasad (4.5) lost to P.V.V. Seshu (5.5); J.V. Ramana (5) bt J.R.C. Prasad (4); K.S. Anand Reddy (4) lost to L.V. Shiva Kumar (5); C.R.G. Krishna (4.5) drew with M. Deepthamsh Reddy (4.5).
