Jasbir claims eight

VISAKHAPATNAM: Spinner Jasbir Singh’s eight-wicket haul and an unbeaten stand of 135 for the second wicket between M.U.B. Sriram (73, 5x4) and Ch. Praneeth Kumar (69, 6x4) put Visakhapatnam in a strong position against Vizianagaram on the first day of the two-day match in the ACA North Zone under-19 inter-district cricket tournament here on Sunday.

In another match, Srikakulam finished the day claiming three East Godavari wickets for 31 runs after making 251 in its first innings.

The scores: Vizianagaram 130 in 42.2 overs (S.S.S. Bahadur 53, Jasbir Singh eight for 31) vs. Visakhapatnam 152 for one in 48 overs (M.U.B. Sriram 73 batting, Ch. Praneeth Kumar 69 batting); Srikakulam 251 in 75.4 overs (A. Karthik 84, S.H. Srinivas 51, G.D.S. Suresh Kumar five for 47) vs. East Godavari 31 for three in 12 overs. — Special Correspondent
