Pillion rider dies in road accident

ARUPPUKOTTAI: A 25-year-old pillion rider, T. Chandrasekaran, was killed on the spot when the motorbike he was riding skidded into a channel on Saturday night.
The motorcycle rider, G. Sundaraj (34), of Aruppukottai has been admitted to the Government Hospital after he had sustained serious head injury.
The accident occurred near Irukkangudi junction when they were proceeding towards Nathathupatti.
In another accident involving a car and a van, six students of an engineering college in Coimbatore were injured near Pandalgudi. One of them, A. Antony (23) has been admitted to a hospital with a shoulder fracture. Their car was proceeding towards Tiruchendur, when it hit a fish-laden van coming from the opposite direction at around 3 a.m. on Sunday.
