Nagabhairava HYDERABAD: Telugu litterateur Nagabhairava Koteswara Rao passed away here on Saturday. He was 77 and was suffering from cancer for quite some time. Born in an agricultural family at Ravinuthala village in Prakasam district in 1931, Koteswara Rao worked as a Telugu lecturer in government degree colleges for over three decades. He authored several books in Telugu. He wrote ‘Kavana Vijayam’ as a parody to ‘Bhuvana Vijayam’. His other works included ‘Rangajamma’, ‘Veluthuru Snaanam’, ‘Toorpu Vakillu’, ‘Pathaaka Seershika’, ‘Naa Udayam’, ‘Santakam’, and ‘Gundlakamma Cheppina Katha’. Some of his works were prescribed as part of college curriculum. His ‘Kanneetigaatha’ captured the sorrow that befell coastal Andhra following a devastating cyclone in 1969. Koteswara Rao was a close associate of the late Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao. Telugu expertHe was Telugu expert for Sahitya Akademi in 1988-1992. He received Telugu University Award and Raja Lakshmi Foundation Award for his literary achievements. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
