HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Cricket Association’s league season, starting on June 16, will have a new look this time. Sanjay Bangar and Halhadhar Das, both members of Deccan Chargers team, will in all probability play some matches for Deccan Chronicle in the A-Division (three-day) format. According to sources in the Chargers franchisee, the whole idea of roping in them is to create competition amongst the young talents. Also, Chronicle will join India Cements and Bharat Dynamics Ltd in giving appearance money for the league players. Chronicle is willing to pay Rs. 2,000 per match for the Ranji players while Bharat Dynamics will pay Rs. 5,000 per month. Interestingly, even India Cements has two brackets of payment — Rs. 4,000 per month for the Ranji players and Rs. 3,000 for the others who represented Hyderabad in different age groups. Amidst the backdrop of the miserable experience of completing some of the A-Division League matches well after the Ranji season was over last year, HCA secretary N. Shivlal Yadav said necessary steps have been taken to ensure all the Leagues be completed as per schedule. “With turf wickets available at NFC, ECIL, Water Works (Amberpet), Gymkhana, Vijayanand Gardens, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal) and Gymkhana, this time it should not be a problem and we are determined to set the clock right,” he said. — Principal Correspondent
