Nikhat Banu wins title

HYDERABAD: Nikhat Banu of Gujarati Seva Mandal (GSM) clinched the junior girls’ title in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation table tennis tournament on Friday. In the final, Nikat defeated M. Harshitha of Anandnagar Welfare Association (AWA) 11-2, 11-1, 11-5, 11-4.

Banu also reached the women’s final, defeating Farisha 11-3, 11-5, 11-5, 11-4.

Juniors: Semifinals: V.S.S. Kaushik (AWA) bt A. Ali (AWA) 12-10, 12-10, 11-4, 11-8; Gautham Krishna (AWA) bt Arkesh (AWA) 10-12, 11-9, 13-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-7. Veterans: Final: Devendernath (YMCA, Hyd) bt Mohd Yousuf 11-5, 11-9, 12-10.

Women: Semifinals: T.L. Harshitha bt M. Harshitha 15-13, 11-9, 11-6, 11-5; Nikhat Banu bt Farisha 11-3, 11-5, 11-5,11-4.
