Quarterfinalists spotted

BELLARY: Karnataka’s men’s and women team were among the quarterfinalists in the 53rd all-India senior ball badminton tournament being played at the BDAA grounds here. Karnataka men scored wins over Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh while the women beat Maharashtra in the league matches to cruise into the last eight.

Apart from Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh from Pool A, Tamil Nadu and Orissa from Pool B, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry from Pool C and Hyderabad and Kerala form Pool D advanced. In the women’s section, Kerala and Chandigarh from Pool A, Karnataka and Maharashtra in Pool B, Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad from Pool C and Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarh have qualified.
