Close finish on the cards

BANGALORE: The third leg of the Indian Amateur Golf tour seems to be heading for a close finish. First round leader Vikram Rana bounced back strongly to glide into the joint lead with a card of one under 71 on Thursday while overnight leader Gagan Verma stayed on to share the top spot after the penultimate round, carding one over.

Delhi’s Rashid Khan placed a handy third along with Abhinav Lohan three strokes adrift of the joint leaders. Manav Das, H.S. Kang, Rahul Bakshi and Chikkarangappa could also make the finish interesting.

The scores (after the third round): 1. Vikram Rana 213 (70, 72, 71) and Gagan Verma (72, 68, 73); 3. Rashid Khan 216 (71, 76, 69) and Abhinav Lohan (72, 72, 72); 5. Manav Das 217 (75, 69, 73), H.S. Kang (74, 68, 75); 7. Rahul Bakshi 218 (78, 70, 70) and Chikkarangappa (74, 69, 75). — Special Correspondent
