Plea to check police harassment

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh ‘Vayidya Kalakarula Sangham’ (players of musical instruments) on Wednesday represented to Home Minister K. Jana Reddy seeking steps to check police harassment of its members for causing noise pollution when they play without permission.

B. Narayana, president, and three other leaders in the representation said police were confiscating musical instruments alleging that they were being used without permission. They were also registering cases, issuing challans, besides resorting to abuse and rash behaviour.

The leaders wanted the organisers of marriages and other functions to take police permission so that members of the sangham could be spared police harassment.
