Staff Reporter

“He loved St. Stephen’s College…it was his life”

NEW DELHI: Vinod Chowdhury, senior Reader of Economics at Delhi University’s St. Stephen’s College, passed away on Tuesday morning following a heart attack.

“Mr. Chowdhury had been ailing for some time.

“He underwent a prostrate surgery recently. But he almost recovered. About a week ago, he suffered a cardiac arrest and later slipped into coma,” said Nandita Narain of the college faculty.

Remembering him as a “warm and affectionate person” and a “good debater”, she said: “He loved St. Stephen’s College…it was his life. He was a dynamic and inspiring teacher. Generations of students will remember him fondly.”

A student of Delhi School of Economics, Mr. Chowdhury had been teaching Economics at St. Stephen’s for the past 30 years.

When Valson Thampu was Principal of the institution, Mr. Chowdhury also served as the media adviser.
