Fatal fall for fleeing militant

Jammu: Authorities on Saturday suspended a Sub-inspector after a suspected militant in Doda district died.

He jumped into a canal in an attempt to escape from the accompanying police party.

One Abdul Latief, whose name had figured in a militancy case, was called to police station at Doda on Saturday, Senior Superintendent of Police Manohar Singh said.

He claimed that Latief during questioning confessed that one Hizbul Mujahideen militant Haq Nawaz, who was killed recently, had given him some arms and ammunition which he had kept at his residence in Dehrote village. — PTI
