“We are not accepting fee fixed by committee”

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: “We are not accepting the fee fixed by the Balasubramanian Committee. This is unjustified,” said Jeppiaar, president of the Consortium of Self-Financing Professional, Arts, and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Jeppiaar listed out the various facilities made available to students admitted under the management quota in self-financing engineering colleges in the State.

“The decision is unilateral in nature and we are not accepting it. We have sent one more letter to the Tamil Nadu Minister for Higher Education, K. Ponmudy, and we are awaiting a favourable response from the Tamil Nadu government,” Mr. Jeppiaar said.

“We have not so far made any commitment to the government with regard to seat sharing. We are not favouring the fee fixed for the management quota and the government quota for the courses under the National Board of Accredited programme and for the non-NBA programmes”, Mr. Jeppiaar said.

Mr. Jeppiaar wanted the fee committee to visit every self-financing colleges and physically verify the infrastructure available for students.
