Loan waiver
MANGALORE: State Bank of Mysore has taken steps to launch its debt waiver and debt relief schemes in this region. The bank’s chief general manager Dilip Mavinkurve, who visited Byndoor branch on Thursday, said there was no need for farmers to submit applications. A list of beneficiaries would be displayed at the bank’s regional office on June 21. The relief amounting to Rs. 1,050 crore, including Rs. 450 crore loan waiver of small and marginal farmers, would cover 1.5 lakh people. The small and marginal farmers, who had obtained loans before March 31, 2007 and the entire overdue repayment as on December 31, 2007 which continued to be there till February 29, 2008, would be eligible for the waiver scheme, he said. — Special Correspondent
