Last-minute rush: Officials of the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation preparing birth certificates on Sunday. Thiruvananthapuram: It was business as usual at the birth and death section in the City Corporation headquarters on Sunday. Most of the employees gave up their weekly holiday and turned up for work to prepare birth certificates in time for the reopening of schools. The office remained open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. “Over 4,000 applications were processed on Sunday and the birth certificates prepared,” said K. Jayadevan, Health Inspector. “The certificates will be despatched to the applicants after affixing the signature of the health officer on Monday morning.” Women employees also reported for duty. Mayor C. Jayan Babu and Deputy Mayor V. Jayaprakash visited the office and complimented the employees.
