MYSORE: The week-long 66th birthday celebrations of Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadoota Datta Peetha drew to a close here on Sunday. Bahujan Samaja Party leader P.G.R. Sindhya, Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Math and Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji participated in the valedictory function. The former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Union Home Minister Shivaraj Patil were conspicuous by their absence at the function. Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji conferred various titles on Vishnubhatla Subrahmanya Shastry of Hyderabad (Veda Nidhi); Krishna Shastry Kodinikar of Satara (Shastra Nidhi); Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty of Kolkata (Nada Nidhi); and Raviji of Trinidad, West Indies (Vishwa Bandhu) on the occasion. Music programmesMusicians M. Balamurali Krishna, L. Subrahmanyam and Nirupama Rajendra gave performances during the week-long birthday celebrations. The seer donated an ambulance to “Asha Kirana” that provides counselling and care to HIV positive patients.
