Minister clarifies

CHENNAI: Food Minister E.V. Velu on Friday clarified that the orders issued by the State government to control hoarding of essential commodities would not be applicable to those who imported pulses and wheat.

A press release from the Minister said control orders were issued only to prevent hoarding of essential commodities. “But, we have to increase the stock position to control the prices in the open market. So there is no bar on importers keeping the stock.” — Special Correspondent
