Life term for murder

CHENNAI: The Fast Track Court III, Poonamallee, sentenced a man to life imprisonment on Thursday for murder. The convict, Murthi alias Vinayakamurthy (32) of Murthy Ayyangar Street, Erikarai in Vyasarpadi had, in a fit of anger, killed Malar by hitting her on the head on December 12, 2007.

Murthi was arrested a day later and a case registered under Section 302 of IPC. Since the crime was proved beyond doubt, the accused was awarded life sentence and lodged in Puzhal prison on Thursday, a release said.
