CHENNAI: A website for Chennai City Traffic Police is nearing completion and will be launched shortly.
The website would offer various facilities and be user-friendly, a police officer said. Provision for registering complaints, participating in the tenders of traffic police and details of policies and statistics pertaining to various types of accidents in the city annually would be available on the website.
Road safety awareness programmes and details about good driving habits, road rules and first aid would also be available on the website, the officer said.
With the operation of traffic signals throughout the day, the authorities were receiving several complaints of signal jumping by vehicles. E-mails pertaining to such complaints could be sent to the authorities concerned, he added.
The website would be manned by a set of trained professionals. The network would function from the Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) office in Kilpauk.
Plaints could be sent
Complaints about fleecing of passengers by autorickshaw drivers could also be sent to the traffic police.
The authorities were planning to take severe action against such drivers by imposing heavy penalty on them, which would be followed by legal action and prosecution, the officer added.
