BANGALORE: Military veterans on Tuesday called for “One Rank, One Pension”. They held a protest meet here on Tuesday demanding the Union Government to address various issues relating to their pension and resettlement.

The veterans, led by Air Marshal K.D.K. Lewis, Lt. Gen. N.S.I. Narahari and Wing Commander Philipose, a 92-year- old veteran who had participated in the Second World War, demanded adequate welfare measures for proper resettlement of military veterans. They also demanded lateral induction of officers and personnel below officer rank into Central and State government services. The public sector undertakings, at appropriate levels, should also give opportunities to the military personnel to upgrade themselves and retire at the age of 60, they said.

The veterans also demanded formulation of legislation making it mandatory for all corporate and industrial bodies related to supply of equipment, materials and stores to the armed forces to employ military veterans to the extent of 10 per cent of their workforce. They also demanded reconstitution of Pay Review Committee headed by the Cabinet Secretary by including military veteran as a member.
